  1. Wazzup says:

Let me guess. You had a read of Bonobos and “Sex at Dawn” before writing this XD

  2. Anthonios says:

Each week i stop and check your work. i can’t get enough. please tell me that this is going to be a story that actually can be published. also, this comic is extremely addicting, just hope you know that.

    • jordan says:

Thanks Anthonios! I’m hoping it gets published too! Right now I’m trying to decide on self publishing or going through a publishing house. I’m not sure which yet.

  3. Steve says:

Just wanted you to know… in the lower right where you have the comic website address… you forgot an ‘i’. So, if someone tries to type it in, it doesn’t work. (though, with chrome at least, google does suggest the correct website.)

  4. anglo says:

    Whoo, early even

    • jordan says:

Well, it being the last page and all…honestly, I was just up late last night and realized, ‘hey, it’s Tuesday. I’ll post the page now!’

  5. Maria says:

Thank you for coming back with a website having new and
colorfuldesign.Formatting in your website is the main difference, you
did.I think, it had been a hard work and your work is definetly
    rewarded.

    • jordan says:

Thanks for coming back to check out Hominids 2.0. I’m glad you like it better! It definitely needed it. Hope to hear from you again in the future.

  6. Northern Polaris says:

    Phenomenal.
Honestly, you have something amazing here. I love your character design, and your artwork is so colourful and fun that my eyes thank you.
Even though you designed the little apes after Floresiensis, any chance you might make a reference Lucy?

    • jordan says:

Thanks so much NP! That means a lot to me.
I would love to throw in a Lucy reference, but in a way that doesn’t seem at odds with the story. I have a couple ideas for some nods but they may be a little down the line. So keep checking back!!!

  7. anglophony says:

YAAAaaayy! only four more days to the next one…….

    • jordan says:

Hurray! Although I’m so deep in Chapter 4 and getting books ready to print, I’m starting to lose count. Don’t worry though, I wont forget.

  8. kurik says:

I’m liking the comic. Good art, good story, keep up the good work.

  9. Biblioholic says:

On second glance it appears it simply does not show me the undercase in the comment box.

    • jordan says:

Thanks for the feedback. I’m looking into that issue currently. Hopefully I’ll have it fixed soon.

  10. Biblioholic says:

your website seems to really be bugging out.

firstly, for some reason caps lock or no caps lock i cannot do undercase letters. This i have determined is not a flaw of my computer. i am not yelling i promise. test. Can’t even do it with character map. Àà. Seem to be able to do other characters that do not include undercase.

Secondly, i cannot see the characters i type in the name and e-mail fields, nor can I highlight them.

Thirdly, the page does not allow me to load the comic.

I am using windows xp, and the latest version of the firefox web browser. I hope my input helps.

  11. Sara Single says:

What is this I can’t see my name while typing???? And comment seems all capital while my caps lock is off… I think you should do something for that.

Anyways I appreciate your creativity. Very well done. All characters seems realistic and graphic work is beautiful. Best of luck for you future.

    • jordan says:

Thanks for the feedback Sara. I’ve been trying to get that fixed (Unfortunately I’m not the most tech savvy and a lot of it is a big learning curve for me) so hopefully next time you leave a comment that’ll be fixed. Fortunately all your info shows up once the comment is left and the all caps goes away.
Thanks for the kind words as well.

  12. Brooke says:

I am in love with this comic! The plot and characters so far are amazing and you have some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve seen. I’m a bit of an art snob and think that even the best story can be ruined by shoddy art, buy you consistently deliver gorgeous graphics that just scream quality. I know this is a story i’m going to just keep coming back to.

  13. Jo says:

HeY. I was wondering, are the flesh eaters late asian homo erectus? And, are the little hairy guys australopithicine or Florensis? It’s really nice to see this comic because I just took an anthropology class; and, I’ve been thinking about all of those lives from prehistory with a sort of dismay because of their having no surviving story but what we can deduce from remains and artifacts.

    • jordan says:

I couldn’t agree more Jo. There’s so many stories we’ll never know from pre-history, it’s kind of sad. And we’re just hearing that there’s another new species they just found. It’s incredible!
As for the question, I based the Flesh-Eaters off of the Devisovans, or Denisova Hominin. Since we know so little about them and have so few fossils, they’re a bit of a mystery to us other then we share about %5 of their DNA.
I thought this was a perfect species to base the Flesh-Eaters on since their a bit of a mystery in the story. Sure they come in and wreak havoc but there isn’t really anything else known about them. Probably because no one survives to tell the tale.
For the hairy Root Dwellers, you’re right in guessing Homo Floresiensis…mostly. I think these guys have some Pan Troglodytes in them too. Perhaps a common ancestor?
Thanks for the great questions. In the future I may come to you with some science questions.

  14. Dragon says:

Just caught up on the last few pages.

    Well…THat escalated quickly. O.o

  15. anglo says:

Yup, That is exactly as I suggested for backgrounds.
now if there were more tuesdays in a week……………….:P

  16. Gillsing says:

In the second panel of page 20, is “it’ll over soon” supposed to be “it’ll be over soon”? Or “it’s over soon”?

And in Opera I usually get a horizontal, thick, black line across the page when I view it through the viewer. It’s not a huge problem, since I can just view the image file directly in a new tab, but I figured that I should mention it.

Keep up the excellent work! πŸ™‚

I liked the way they dealt with the flesh eater, though I worried about the grip he seemed to have on his prey. It didn’t look like he would go down alone!

    • jordan says:

The word bubble on page 20 is being spoken by Keyli. He’s reassuring Icari that ‘It’ll be over soon’. I hoped that the color balloons would be enough to decipher between character when they’re off scene, but I know the colors are light. Anyways, I hope that clears that up. That kind of feedback is really helpful when I lay out pages in the future.
I’ve never played with Opera before so I’m not really sure why that’s happening. I’ll play around with it.

The Flesh-Eaters are pretty tough. Maybe the shock of being hit by such a scrawny person was a surprise. If I ever do the story again in some other format it’d be cool to have him catch her and they go over.

Thanks for coming back and keeping up on the comic Gillsing!

    • msouth says:

      Jordan–

      in:

      https://hominidscomic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/20_publish.jpg

The reassuring words in the other color are clear, in terms of who is being reassured, etc. IT’s the missing word in the bottom balloon in the second panel that Gillsing was trying to draw your attention to. He says “just tell me it’ll over soon”, should be “just tell me it’ll be over soon”.

It wasn’t clear you understood that from your reply, so I’m butting in to point that out :).

Also, your comic is very, very Awesome.

    • jordan says:

Thanks for clearing that up and catching it. I’ll fix it on my next update. Thanks guys!

    • msouth says:

      Jordan-

In https://hominidscomic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/20_publish1.jpg it now says “please tell me it’ll over be soon”.

You mean “please tell me it’ll be over soon”

    • Gillsing says:

Yes, what msouth said. (Right now the “be” is in the wrong place.) And also, as an additional nitpick, I think that in the third panel of that page (20), “wont” should have an apostrophe: won’t (because “wont” without the apostrophe means something else)

And of course I’m keeping up on this comic. It just oozes quality!

Though to be fair, I actually didn’t notice the differently coloured speech balloons. Didn’t really need to, since it was easy enough to follow the conversation. If you want it to be easier to notice, perhaps have more saturated colours near the edges of the balloon?

  17. Gingie says:

Each week i stop and check your work. i can’t get enough. please tell me that this is going to be a story that actually can be published. also, this comic is extremely addicting, just hope you know that. πŸ˜›

    • jordan says:

Thanks so much Gingie! You’ve no idea how nice it is to hear that you’re addicted. I’ll say just wait! The next few weeks of posts will be big, art and story-wise.
I’m definitely planning on publishing once this book is finished, which will end up being 6 Chapters. That’ll be book 1, then I plan on doing a second book as well. So hopefully Hominids will be around for awhile! Thanks again.

  18. Lovely stuff! I like the character designs, with the subtle but logical differences in anatomy. My only quibble on the character designs is I would expect them to splay their toes out more, given they never wear shoes …!

Found you via an ad on Piperka.net — my favourite site for keeping track of updates to comics. Looking forward to the day we can add β€˜In Popular Culture’ sections to the end of the Wikipedia pages for Neanderthals and Denisova hominins. πŸ™‚

    • jordan says:

What a great idea Damian. I’d love to add the comic to those sections on Wikipedia someday.
Thanks for letting me know where you found the site. It’s really helpful to know where the best places to focus my attention on.
I’ll play around with the feet. It would be cool if they were double jointed and could really spread those toes out for climbing.

  19. Travis says:

New page rocks, especially the cool layout. and that scary ass bloody flesh eater.

  20. anglo says:

My new silly question for the week, I love your backgrounds that you’ve done, are you planning to make then avialable ?

    • jordan says:

Great question! I’ve been wanting to make wallpapers for a while now but have been holding off. I think that’s a great idea though. Look for them in the near future.

  21. anglophony says:

you seem to have lost your chapter 3 background

    • jordan says:

Fixed! Thank goodness! Website maintenance is hard!!! In all seriousness, something weird was happening while I was trying to update. Thanks for letting me know.

  22. news says:

Wanted to drop a comment and let you know your Rss feed isnt functioning today. I tried including it to my Bing reader account but got nothing.

    • jordan says:

Thanks for letting me know. Try again later today. I’m not sure if it works with bing but maybe try one of the other options. I’ll look into how I can fix that.

  23. geneseepaws says:

Hmmm, won’t let me enter my name. and I’m writing in all caps, though my caps lock isn’t on.
Comic, wow! Such superb graphic work, great story, believable characters, and good foreshadowing. All in all an A+ or maybe a little better. A fan for sure.

    • jordan says:

Wow! Thanks do much! I really appreciate it! I only wish I could get pages out faster. Thanks for catching those bugs too. I’m not sure why it does all caps when you write a comment and then it doesn’t do that once the comment is left. I’ll definitely look into it.

  24. Travis says:

I really like the new page- Lye is a cool-looking character we haven’t seen before. I like her hair color. Cool page brohirrim!

  25. Travis says:

Love THE new page. The moment with the Root Dwellers is great.

  26. You had better plan on the eventual movie rights……..

  27. Mutterscrawl says:

I really like the comic but for some reason my comments are in all caps despite my capslock not being on and not being in caps in other places?

    • jordan says:

Thanks for letting me know. I’m not sure why that’s happening but I’ll look into. Glad you like the comic!

    • jordan says:

hmmm…interesting. I hit refresh on the page and the comments were back to normal. Try that and let me know what happens.

  28. more capitalized comments please! πŸ˜‰

    • jordan says:

Maybe I’ll do a comic page that’s all CAPS!!! Or just fix the comments page. Maybe I’ll do that.

  29. Gillsing says:

More proofreading from me: In the second panel of page 7 in Chapter 3, I think “prefer to called” should be “prefer to be called”.

  30. Enormously educational thanks, I do believe your visitors will likely want further blog posts like this maintain the excellent effort.

  37. LaughingTarget says:

Found my way over from Bearmageddon. So far, this is an intriguing story. Hard to get used to those gigantic forearms, even though they make perfect sense in-cannon. Read the whole thing up to last Tuesday in basically one big sitting. Keep up the good work, have favorited and will return regularly.

    • jordan says:

Glad you like it despite the Popeye forearms. I’ve started to get really used to them and sometimes I have to remind myself not to draw them on the human characters. Thanks for checking it out.

  38. eric says:

pretty fancy layout… I like it. Cool how the “new page” is highlighted. Great art too.

    • jordan says:

Thanks Eric! I really wanted the to layout to fit with the world and story. Glad you like it.

  39. David says:

Interesting comic, will definitely continue reading it!

  40. Mutazoid says:

Awesome artwork! I’m hooked now! Looking forward to Tuesday!!

  41. Great website, will come back soon … keep up to good work.
    Regards,

  42. anglophony says:

This is stupendous ,a potential to be ranked with only a few others with its intriguing storyline, and a artwork to drool over.
the only pick to nit over are these : the page presentation is a little clumsy ( and you have to pay attention or you’ll find yourself cliking on pages more than once ( d’oh ))
You need to check the html on chapter two cuz page nine does NOT show upon clicking, and half of the “leave a reply” had to be done blindly ( no can see typing ).

OH yeah, one more thing, update more frequently πŸ˜€

    • jordan says:

Thanks for the great feedback Anglophony, and for pointing out some of the bugs! The site is relatively new so some of it is trial and error. I’m going to play around with some things so that everything is as clear as possible. I also fixed the page 9 bug. I’m really glad you pointed that out as it’s one of my favorite pages!

  43. Gillsing says:

I noticed that the vote incentive changed, so I figured that the comic might be updating again. And so it is! And the comic reader seems to require less clinking than the previous one, so that’s nice. The comic itself always looked awesome, and still does. πŸ˜€

In panel 4 of page 5, is “why are we stopped” supposed to be “why have we stopped”?

    • jordan says:

I’m glad the new voting incentive brought you back! It’ll change each week with the new page as well! I’m glad you like the new look too! Thanks for proofing too! Man, that’s helpful.

  44. son of god says:

Appreciating the time and effort you put into your site and detailed information you offer. It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same old rehashed material. Wonderful read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.

  45. The Code CrimsonThT says:

Wow! The art in this is spectacular! I am really blown away by the details. It reminds me almost of Avatar. Great stuff, can’t wait to read more!

  46. Nice post πŸ™‚ Best regards πŸ™‚

  47. Dragon says:

At long last, the beginning of chapter 3!

I’m digging the new layout, though I’m not sure about all caps for the comments. Feels like everyone’s yelling. I guess a little extra enthusiasm can’t hurt though, lol. πŸ™‚

    • jordan says:

Thanks Dragon. The text does feel way too big on the comments. I’m working on getting them to a readable size. Thanks for the feedback.

  48. Misael says:

DUUUUUDE! Love the site. Love the comic. Keep on keeping on.

  49. Howdy! This is my 1st comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and say I genuinely enjoy reading through your posts. Can you recommend any other blogs/websites/forums that go over the same topics? Thank you!

  50. Fantastic post, thanks a lot. The blog got a new reader.

  51. We wish your posts had a lot more comments, to create future discussion about your posts.

    • jordan says:

I agree, Aaron. I would love for there to be more comments. The site has only been up for a few days so I am hopeful that they will start rolling in. No time like the present to start though. How do you feel about the site?
