We’re finally at the city.

There has been a lot of talk about the world the humans live in and it’s fast approaching.

This was another page I added somewhat late to the game. Before, they arrived at the gate a bit too soon. This also gave Icari a moment with his father. Here we get to see that Eetori does care about his son, however we also get that his faith is still more important.

More of the city next week!

I’m not going to lie.

A week ago this page wasn’t even in the script.

I was going over the flow of the chapter and I came upon a problem with the two newest pages. They were being rushed. Not art wise, but from a storytelling perspective. I needed to take a step back and buffer the transitions between scenes to help it flow better. Once the next few pages are released, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

As for this weeks page, some of the dialog was cut from a later scene and brought over here. It made more sense to put it here as Zona is making sense of everything that is happening and she’s trying to plan her next move. This also allows that later scene to breath a bit more.

We also get a chance to make sure Basse is going to make it out okay. Say what you will about him, he’s a big, untrustworthy jerk, but you’d still want him on your side.

With adventure comics, it’s easy to get lost in the action.

It’s always worth taking a moment for your characters.

This is one of those pages I was really excited to release. This may be my favorite Sno scene. She was so angry in the previous page but here you learn that her number one concern is someone else. Whenever I think about her as a person, I feel empathy is the quality that exemplified her the greatest. Keyli lives through this because of her.

Many of you noticed poor Clumsy’s sunburn. Thank goodness he received some water too. Sno was fortunate enough to get clothes, but isn’t interesting that she is the only one covered up? I have a feeling we got a little insight into the Mountain Dwellers culture.

The city is coming soon!

Also, what does Icari’s father, Eetori have up his sleeve?

We finally get to catch up with the crew and things aren’t looking so good.

Will Keyli make it to the top of the mountain, can Icari earn Sno’s trust, and will Clumsy get a sip of water?!?

This is one of those scenes that I’ve been waiting a long time to put out. In fact, Chapter 5 is riddled with them. So much happens this chapter and I keep adding content! I’m going to get back to it so I don’t fall off schedule. See you fellow Hominerds next week.

As promised this is a small update.

Next week will be a much larger post. Even though there is only three panels in this weeks page there is a lot to take away from it. Mainly that it’s hot, exposed, and Keyli is a mess. We’re finally getting to where we left off last chapter. Next week we’ll catch up with how our captures are holding up.

I’m in Colorado this week visiting my family. Despite all the fires and beetle kill, we spent the weekend up in Rocky Mountain National Park. I really love spending time with my family and I don’t get to do it enough. Every single one of them have been a huge supporter of Hominids and I just want to take a moment to thank them for that. I’ll post pictures in the next couple days.

It’s nearly 1 am.

I’m working on a new page that is going to be posted in two weeks.

I’m getting sleepy and need a distraction. I realized it’s Tuesday and I can go ahead and post the new page. Things are getting serious and one phase of Zona’s plan is taking shape. She has a map of the mountain and even greater reason to use it. Let’s just hope she can get there to save our friends in time!

As for Basse’s comment about her plan to “outbreed them”. Somehow I don’t think Zona is quite so naive. However, that’s a part of the story that’s going to have to wait.

So you might all be a little angry with me next week. I’m still going to post a page but it’s a small one. It’s the chapters introductory page that is usually accompanied by the following full page. There will still be important content but it’s only 3 panels. The reason being, I’m heading to Colorado to visit family for a couple weeks and I need to keep my buffer of pages up. Believe me though, the following weeks page will be worth the wait.

A new week finds us back in the present.

Zona studies a new map that we haven’t seen before. It seems as if all her plans are coming together only to have them shattered when Lye and Basse return with ill news. If you want to know more about what she’s up to, go back and read the last few pages of Chapter 2 and then her conversation with Icari by the fire in Chapter 3.
This week I’ve also added Google AdSense to the website. This is my first attempt at using them. I’ve had Project Wonderful ads up for along time with little return. I’m hopeful that I might find better luck with these. Have any of you used AdSense? If so, what were the results?

Greetings fans, friends and fellow Hominerds!     LeaveAComment_Keyli

It seems like ‘Tree Dwellers’ are always saving ‘Mountain Dwellers’ from a deathly fall in the jungle. These guys are truly out of their element. If you want a clue as to who this Otari (Oh-tar-ee) character is, you only need to refer back to Chapter 3, page 22.

This is also the first time we see members of a particular group actively move against one of their own. It seems that not all is well within the factions of the Mountain Dwellers! The concept of a species turning violent on their own has always fascinated me. It seems to go so much against our own self interests, yet it happens all the time. Considering we are social creatures, you would think we would want to do nothing else but nurture each other and take care of one another. The theme of turning violent against ones own people is something that we will explore in greater depth as the story unfolds.

Also, if you’re enjoying the comic, consider leaving a comment. I love hearing from each and every one of you. It’s an invaluable tool to find out who’s reading, where you found the comic, and what you think. I love talking to you and will always comment back.

It’s about 4:30 in the morning here in Seattle. Why do you ask, am I up at such an ungodly hour? Well, as I’m sure you know already, Chapter 5 has officially begun and I wanted the new pages to be up before most of you rolled out of bed.

Posted today is a new eerie cover, featuring a mysterious figure. Who might this fellow be and I wonder if he’s been mentioned in the past? I have a feeling not much good will come from this guy. Also posted today is of course page 1, which introduces us to a new character Otari. A young innocent priest with a lot of potential. I like seeing a bit more of these raiding parties that we always hear about. It’s interesting to me that they always bring a priest for spiritual protection, yet the priest never makes it out alive. It seems as if there is some descent amongst their ranks. For those of you anxious to find out what’s happened to Sno, Keyli, Clumsy and Icari you will soon find out.

There are a couple new additions to the website that you may have noticed already. I can finally blog about the most recent post here on the home page. Such a simple feature but I’m really excited about it.

The other big change is that you can now read the comic in a classic webcomic format! If you look up at the navigation bar you will see a new tab titled Classic Reader. This will allow you to read the comic like any other webcomic out there. Although most of you like the way the comic is formatted, I can understand not everyone wants to read the comic like this, especially if you are on a mobile device. The other reason is I haven’t been able to be a part of sites like Comic Rocketthe Webcomics List, and the new InkOutbreak feature. This is simply due to the fact that all my updates are to my homepage so it’s impossible for them to track my update progress. The updates to my website will change all that and hopefully bring about new readers. As usual I’d love any and all of your feedback.

Thanks for being patient everyone! Chapter 5 promises to be the most epic Hominids yet!
